Music Generation Wicklow sought young musicians who play any instrument and wanted to become part of an exciting new project happening in Bray.

We are developing a culture of ensemble playing for young musicians who would normally play on their own or in small groups and wanted to expand their repertoire and have the experience of playing as part of a large group.  The project catered for any instrument, the more diversity the better!

Composer/Conductor Andrew Synnott who has a wealth of experience of composing, arranging and conducting was appointed to lead the project along with six Music Generation Wicklow musicians.  There were weekly sessions for 15 weeks keeping with the academic calendar, beginning in mid-October 2018 and finishing in March 2019.

The main criteria for selecting young musicians was that they had an interested in making music and joining up with other like-minded musicians. During the project they had the opportunity to work on arrangements, improvisation and experimentation in different music styles as well as compose their own original song.

The Elevation Project was supported by the Music Generation Creativity and Collaboration Fund
