An Honours graduate of Belfast School of Music and Ulster University, Gerry studied classical clarinet, bass clarinet and ethnomusicology. He has extensive teaching experience as a Traditional flute tutor and is a well-established traditional musician involved in touring, composing, recording and collaborating with Irish musicians and musicians other musical genera’s in the production of music for media, tv and film.

As a founding member of Bray Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Gerry has been at the very centre of the organisation of and training of tutors and training of traditional musicians in the Bray area for over fifteen years. In his position as Chairman of The Wicklow County Board of Comhaltas and delegate to The Leinster Provincial Council of Comhaltas he continues to make a significant contribution to the promotion of traditional music and overall development of young traditional musicians within County Wicklow.
