Music Generation Wicklow Programmes
Foundation Music Programme for Primary Schools
The purpose of this strand is to provide an introduction to music performance for young children from Junior Infants to Second Class. This strand utilises various pedagogical methods providing children with tuition in singing, percussion, movement, music notation and can lead to recorder, tin whistle and ensemble playing. The structure of the programme will involve weekly sessions of 40/60 minutes per class group to take the music experience for children beyond the formal school curriculum in a specialist led programme.
Wicklow Children’s Choral Music Programme
This programme provides a high quality music experience, delivered in a fun and accessible way, which enables children to become more confident at music reading and performance. The structure of the programme involves weekly sessions of 60 minutes per class group for the purposes of working on a specific repertoire. Participating schools hold school concerts and on occasion other local performances are also integrated into the programme.
Small Group Instrument Tuition Programme
This programme provides music tuition in a range of instruments and voice across the different music genres in small groups enabling children to become competent at music reading, playing and performance. It differs from the Foundation Music and Choral Music strands, as it is not delivered on a classroom basis. The lessons are delivered by Music Generation specialist music educators either during schools, as an after –school activity supported by the school or in one of our Music Hubs.
