About Music Generation Wicklow
Our Story
Established in 2012 Music Generation Wicklow is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and young people up to the age of 18 across County Wicklow by providing access to high-quality, affordable, and accessible performance music education. As part of Music Generation, Ireland's National Music Education Programme, our core mission is to ensure every young person, regardless of their background, has the choice and chance to participate in music. We passionately believe in the innate artistry and musical potential of every child.
What We Do
We operate through a comprehensive partnership model—led by Kildare & Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) in partnership with Wicklow County Council—to deliver a diverse range of programmes. Our tuition is delivered by a team of highly skilled professional musicians in a variety of settings, including in-school programmes, after-school groups, and community-based projects. We offer vocal and instrumental tuition across all musical genres and styles, including strings, woodwind, percussion, keyboard, and traditional Irish music.
Opportunities and Impact
Our programmes go beyond just weekly lessons, encompassing ensemble practice, mentorship programs and special performance opportunities to enrich the musical experience. We are committed to making music education fun and engaging, focusing on the joy of performance and collaboration. Furthermore, we support participation through an instrument rental scheme in partnership with Wicklow Libraries, making it easier for young people to try out a wide variety of instruments before making a financial commitment. We are proud to empower thousands of young music makers across the county every year.
Our Tutors
Our programmes are delivered by a team of highly qualified, Garda-vetted, and experienced professional musicians and educators.
