Rithim Orchestra
The Rithim Traditional Youth Orchestra is a unique, Wicklow-based folk orchestra established in 2016 that brings together young traditional and classical musicians to perform newly composed music in the traditional style. Originally an independent project formed to perform Tim Doyle's work, Rithim na Réabhloide, the ensemble has since expanded to include musicians from across the county and now operates under Music Generation Wicklow.
Rithim has achieved national and international acclaim, performing at prestigious events like Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and the Kaleidoscope Festival, and abroad at Creative Connexions in Spain.
Soundcrowd
The Soundcrowd Youth Choir, operating under the auspices of Music Generation Wicklow, is a dynamic and contemporary ensemble for young singers. Directed by Joan Dempsey, the choir focuses on developing vocal technique, harmony skills, and confidence in performance. Soundcrowd is known for its energetic and diverse repertoire, which often includes modern, popular, and varied musical styles, giving young people a unique opportunity to find their voice and perform in a high-quality group setting.
Music Under the Mountains

Music Under the Mountains is a community-focused traditional music initiative based in Hollywood, Co. Wicklow. In partnership with Music Generation Wicklow, the programme sustains the long-standing Laura Greaves Music School, providing high-quality instrumental tuition to children and young people in the heart of the village.
The programme aims to preserve and promote Irish traditional music, making it accessible to the local community through weekly lessons and performance opportunities.
Instrumental Tuition: Expert instruction in Tin Whistle, Fiddle, Flute, Concertina, Accordion, and Guitar.
Weekly Classes: Saturday morning group lessons at the Hollywood Centre, fostering a social learning environment.
Band Lab
📍 The Whale Theatre, Greystones
📅 Wednesdays, 2.30–4.30pm
Band Lab is delivered by Music Generation Wicklow in partnership with The Whale Theatre. The programme provides an inclusive and supportive environment where participants can engage in collaborative songwriting, ensemble playing, and live performance, guided by two professional musician-educators.
By combining mentorship with peer-to-peer creativity, Band Lab encourages skill development, confidence building, and artistic expression. Its flexible, open-access format ensures accessibility for young people of all abilities and interests, while making effective use of the theatre’s unique space as a hub for youth creativity and community engagement.
Blessington Hub

Our weekly sessions are split into two core areas:
Small Group Instrumental Classes: Focused tuition in a small group setting, allowing students to build core technical skills, musical literacy, and confidence on their chosen instrument.
Jam Groups & Band Coaching: Collaborative ensemble sessions where students come together to form bands. These sessions focus on group playing, developing repertoire, songwriting, and learning how to communicate as an ensemble.
