Rithim members shine at Music at Mount Leinster event

A Weekend of Traditional Music & Collaboration

We are incredibly proud to share that members of our Rithim ensemble recently travelled to Carlow to participate in the prestigious Music at Mount Leinster festival!

This annual event is a highlight of the traditional music calendar, bringing together young musicians from across the Southeast for an intensive weekend of workshops, sessions, and high-level performances.

Learning from the Masters

Our Wicklow musicians were selected to join the Festival Ensemble, where they had the incredible opportunity to learn from and perform alongside two icons of the Irish music scene: Áine McGeeney (of Goitse) and Danny Collins.

Under their expert guidance, the ensemble explored complex arrangements and honed their performance skills, culminating in a spectacular showcase concert that brought the house down.

The Power of Collaboration

Events like Music at Mount Leinster highlight the strength of the Music Generation network. This wasn't just a Wicklow event; it was a massive collaboration between several Music Generation counties, organised mainly by Music Generation Carlow in collaboration with, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford.

Working with other counties allows our students to:

  • Build Friendships: Connect with other young musicians who share their passion for Trad.

  • Broaden Horizons: Experience different regional styles and teaching methods.

  • Perform at Scale: Participate in large-scale ensembles that wouldn't be possible within a single county alone.

We want to say a huge "well done" to our Rithim representatives for their hard work and for representing Music Generation Wicklow so brilliantly on the regional stage. We can't wait to see what they bring back to our local sessions!
